Edenred – Designing eco-services
Edenred works to protect the environment by reducing its carbon footprint, consumption of resources and waste, designing eco-services for mobility and food waste and managing the impact of its solutions during their lifetime.
Purpose
Edenred faces an environmental challenge in terms of GHG emissions with its mobility solutions and in terms of food waste with its restaurant vouchers.
Results
Since 2013, the Group has been committed to reducing its GHG emissions, particularly those related to its energy consumption. In 2020, its total emissions per surface area were reduced by 46% compared to 2013.
By turning to electronic media such as cards, smartphones and online platforms, Edenred is able to reduce the impact of its activities on paper resources. The Group has been reducing its paper consumption by 20% since 2013.
Implementation
Edenred works to reduce the energy consumption with increased usage of virtual servers and to optimize the use of energy; 23% of Edenred’s data centers are consuming renewable energy today. In 2020, the average PUE is 1.41.
Edenred increasingly develops paperless formats for its payment solutions available to employee users. Taking an eco-design approach to these solutions, whether physical or digital, is one of the key priorities of Edenred’s environmental policy.
Edenred carries out lifecycle assessment (LCA) surveys in its countries to compare the environmental impact of its products. The first survey was carried out in 2017 to assess the impacts of the paper and card of the Ticket Restaurant solution.
